The City of Compton hosted its first meeting on November 14, to engage residents and organizations that wanted to be part of the Census2020 efforts to make sure Compton Counts in the upcoming Census.


20 members showed interest in formalizing the membership in the CCCommittee. Two councilwomen, one liaison and the Mayor attended the meeting.


The topics of this first meeting included:

  • An explanation of how Census2020 Data affect Compton by Mayor Aja Brown.

  • An Introduction about the Census key points by two specialized partners from the Census2020 Team.

  • An activity to identify HTC residents and plan a solution to reach and engage them.

  • A Complete Count Committee summary and future steps.

We are looking for people who are passionate about Compton, community engagement and organizing. Committee members will be ambassadors for the Census 2020 count in Compton and help to create and implement a creative outreach campaign to reach every sector of our community. We are looking for a diverse group of committee members including individuals from education, media, business, religion, philanthropy and community groups.
